OUR MISSION
At HSHS Young Black Achievers, we strive to promote Black excellence and empowerment through educational forums, community service, scholarship funding, etc. We believe that ALL Highland Springs students should be granted with the opportunity to contribute to their futures through portable knowledge and financial gain.
WHO WE ARE
The First Club at Highland Springs to promote Black excellence and empowerment through bringing forth educational symposiums, discourse opportunities, along with several other respective growth windows.
Founded by Kishanti Barmoh in 2020, HSHS Young Black Achievers was established to create a place in which we foster education on African and African American History, including topics that relate historical context to contemporary issues, which allows students to gain more understanding of the state of our modern society due to the contributions of Black leaders. HSHS YBA has created a forum in which students are provided with a safe expanse, in which they can discuss the Black experience, Black culture, and activism operations for all oppressed people. We have also created an expanse for debate, through a method that up-skills the Black Achiever collective. Students have not only been able to have open discourse and discussions about given topics, they have also been educated on proper debate technique. This has taught students how to use their knowledge to formally voice their opinions and beliefs.
